Seiko is celebrating 145 years with a special series of limited edition watches, all inspired by Edo purple, a traditional Japanese colour closely linked with Tokyo, the city where Seiko began.
The Seiko 145th Anniversary Limited Edition collection spans models across the brand's best-known families: Prospex, Astron, Presage, Seiko 5 Sports, and a revival of a 1980s digital classic. Each watch is produced in a fixed number of pieces, from 2,000 to 9,999 worldwide, and carries "LIMITED EDITION" on its case back. Seiko announced the collection on 6 August 2026, with availability from October 2026 at Seiko boutiques and select retailers worldwide. Several models have now arrived at TGT Luxe.

The Story
Why Seiko's 145th Anniversary Matters
Seiko's story began in 1881, when its founder, Kintaro Hattori, opened a shop in Tokyo's Ginza district to sell and repair timepieces. Seiko describes his guiding philosophy as "Always one step ahead of the rest", and that idea runs through the brand's history: Japan's first diver's watch in 1965, the world's first mass-produced quartz watch, the Quartz Astron, in 1969, and the GPS Solar Astron in 2012.
Rather than one commemorative watch, Seiko chose to mark the moment across its whole range, so collectors at different budgets can own a piece of the anniversary.
What Is Edo Purple?
Edo purple is a traditional Japanese colour that emerged during the Edo period (1603 to 1868), when Tokyo was known as Edo. According to Seiko, it belongs to a long line of purples that have been valued in Japan, and it became associated with the character of Edo, a heritage passed down to modern Tokyo. Because Seiko was founded in Tokyo, the colour connects the anniversary watches directly to the brand's home city.
Every model uses Edo purple-inspired tones as its central design element, paired with gold-coloured accents. Each interprets the colour differently, from the translucent cocktail-inspired dial on the Presage to the layered gradient on the Astron.

Seiko Prospex · Alpinist
Seiko Prospex Alpinist Mechanical HBC006J1 (Edo Purple)
7,000 PiecesSold Out on 10 Oct 2026₹1,00,000
The Alpinist is one of Seiko's most loved sports watches, first introduced in 1959. This anniversary edition reinterprets the original 1959 Alpinist logo beneath the Seiko logo at 12 o'clock, a detail collectors will appreciate. The Edo purple dial uses wedge-shaped indexes and Arabic numerals for clear legibility, and it has a rotating inner compass ring. A purple stitch runs along the black leather strap.
Inside is Seiko's 6R55 automatic calibre with a 72-hour power reserve, enough to keep running over a long weekend off the wrist.

Seiko Prospex Speedtimer Solar Chronograph HBJ005P1 (Edo Purple)
8,000 PiecesAvailable₹90,000
The Speedtimer name recalls Seiko's chronographs of the 1960s and 1970s. This solar-powered version adds Edo purple accents to the dial and to the bezel insert, which carries a tachymeter scale. It measures elapsed time up to 60 minutes in 1/5-second steps and includes a 24-hour hand, a power reserve indicator and a date display.
Because it is solar powered, it charges from light and needs no routine battery change, which makes it one of the easiest anniversary models to own and wear every day.

| Movement | Calibre V192 solar chronograph with 24-hour hand and power reserve indicator |

The case and bracelet are titanium with a super-hard coating, with ceramic centre links and a two-part ceramic and titanium bezel.
The 5X83 calibre uses GPS signals to set the correct time and time zone, shows a second time zone with AM/PM indication, and has a perpetual calendar correct to 2100. Without a GPS signal, Seiko rates its accuracy at ±15 seconds per month.

What Sets Them Apart
How the Anniversary Editions Differ From Regular Seiko Models
Each model is made in a fixed number, from 2,000 (Astron) to 9,999 (Seiko 5 Sports), so it will not stay in the regular range.
Every model is marked on the case back, confirming it belongs to the anniversary series.
A colour scheme unique to this series, with each dial finished differently.
Such as the 1959 Alpinist logo on the HBC006J1 and the 1982 Rotocall design on the HFL001.
The calibres, such as the 6R55, 4R34 and 4R36, are the same trusted Seiko movements used in regular models, so servicing is straightforward.
For comparison, the regular Seiko Presage Cocktail Time GMT HCB005J1 uses the same 4R34 GMT calibre with a navy dial and leather strap, while the anniversary HCB006J1 adds the Edo Murasaki dial and a steel bracelet.
